The smell of disinfectant and cold air filled the room, the beeping of a heart monitor’s steady rate keeping the quiet room from being entirely silent. The patient, a tallish man was propped up with pillows against the bed, thick gauze wrapped around his neck. The slow rise and fall of his chest was intently being watched by a larger man in a blood stained shirt. Each beep of the monitor kept him still in his chair.
The door scraped against the floor as a young man entered, the man sat in the chair shooting a glare at him as he entered. Tattoos wrapped around his eyebrow and dripped down one eye as he curled into the creme sweater he wore. Dark brown hair curled around his face as the large jean jacket he wore covered his cheekbones. Dress pants brushed against the floor as he took the seat next to the man in the chair.

Taking a deep breath in, they push aside their giddiness and take this opportunity to do what any good mentor would do.

A tertiary mission, seen from afar in slight glimpses between pulls off ice and missions.
They called it the Asset's bride with a sneer, a cruel laugh, like it was all some sort of joke.
The Asset did not think it would survive to actually be a bride, and yet, the "bride" was more resilient than the Asset thought. It was used to losing time. It was unnerving to lose time like this, falling asleep and waking up and seeing its bride get locked in a dark room, never to see the light of day, hear the sound of a human's voice, and then before it could even comprehend what that meant, it was out, in the Pit, beating men twice its size to kneeling, covered in blood and tissue, but even that was only a passing moment. Suddenly, it was no longer growing, bigger than ever before, its partner for a mission, with an order to "polish up" its training.
The Asset does not have many things of its own. Its clothes, its gear, the air in its lungs, the thoughts in its head, none of it belongs to it.
When they say, "This is yours," it's scared to ask what that means.

So, the general idea of this fanfic is that Chara never commits suicide and because of it they are still alive when the other humans come to the Underground.
They still hate humanity, but nevertheless aren't willing to commit suicide as they don't wish to leave their family behind, even if that selfishness means Monsters remain trapped in the Underground.
Then four years into their era the second of the eight humans arrives to the Underground, the one who arrived didn't trust Monsters and had in fact come to confirm whether the first human was dead, the fact that they weren't may be the only reason some peaceful resolution can be attained one day...unlikely, however.

No sooner had he done that than his chest began to move in and out suddenly. Breathing. You knew about this one. He was doing it very quickly, in a way that couldn’t be good for him. His eyes kept trying to go wide, but you were so bright and so all-consuming that he had to close them again every time, even though the absolute terror in him kept the cycle perpetuating. He was making a sound you associated more with dying animals than with humans, who when they were dying felt that they needed to preserve their dignity, which was baffling, as they weren’t likely to have any since most of them voided their bowels shortly after death.
”No,” he was murmuring, in a tortured-sounding way. “No, no, no.”

NOTE: This takes place in an AU where the Tragedy never occurred, and Junko was as close to sane as she could. So no end of the world occurred, Makoto isn't in charge of the school, etc. Class 77 and 78 might end up plot relevant or mentioned somehow, but the former is likely not going to happen.
Updates should be monthly if I do things right. Updates should also be roughly 1k words in length at minimum for a normal chapter.
