"When we were young," Sifo-Dyas says to his old and dear friend, "many of my supposèd friends abandoned me the moment my visions became too much, but not you. You're a good person. Estai needs people like you."
Yan Dooku shakes his head, because even now, years before he will turn— and he will turn, Si knows this, and he knows there is nothing he can do but enjoy the time he has left with his friend before the Dark takes him— Yan knows he is not the good man Si sees in him. "The only younglings I will ever work with are my own padawans," he says like it's a promise.
Si lets his dear friend believe that promise, but one day, Yan will change his mind. Si doesn't know when, he doesn't know how, he may well not be alive when that day comes, but Yan will choose to work with Estai, and she will be his downfall. Si will do whatever he can to ensure that. "You can't blame a man for trying."

The first time he meets her she's only an initiate, wandering a part of Temple she does not belong, hiding with a skill she shouldn't know, and doing it well enough that he mistook her for a knight before he saw her face. From there, well, Jedi Shadows are investigators as much as they're spies.
The more he learns, the more his curiosity sours with concern, and he realises that, now he's in Initiate Estai's life, he can't simply walk away.

Summary
On one last mission with her former master before he retires, Jedi Knight Estai is sent to Naboo on an 'easy' diplomatic mission. Tragedy strikes, however, when a Sith attacks. In the end, the Trade Federation ends its blockade of Naboo, but Jedi Master Tholme has paid a terrible price, left in a coma he may never awake from.
Estai, reeling from the sudden loss of her master, brings Anakin Skywalker before the Council on her master's behalf. Desperate to keep young Anakin safe, Estai makes a decision that will change history.
Or maybe history was changed a long time ago.

Coruscant. Supposedly, it's the easiest posting in the entire Clone Army. The troopers there are uptight, having nothing else to do between signing forms and guarding the elite. However, it is quiet and it is safe. It is the perfect place for someone like Dogma, who would otherwise be sent back to Kamino to be decommissioned, to be stationed. It is also the perfect place for someone like Barriss Offee, tired of the war and affected deeply by the darkness therein, to recuperate and find serenity within the Force.
Like many things in the middle of War, these are lies.

The Force can choose anyone. This is well-known among Jedi. Within some species, Force-sensitivity is more common than within others, but there is no sentient species - not even past the furthest reaches of the galaxy - that has never had a single Force-sensitive to some degree.
This, of course, means that every so often a Sithspawn child is born with the Force. They call her Estai and they pass her to the Jedi when she's of age.

Introverts don't make friends. They get adopted by extroverts. With less than a decade to his name and a temper that worries his teachers, Obi-Wan wouldn't exactly call himself an extrovert, but he reacts strongly to basic displays of kindness and Estai is nothing if not kind.

Summary
The Jedi Order has a dark secret hiding in plain sight. It is because of that secret that when Master Jinn arrives at the Tython Temple to take Obi-Wan with him on a mission into Mandalorian controlled territory, he has no choice but to comply.
There are rumors that two Jedi have crossed the border and were gallivanting around on a Mandalorian controlled moon, so Jango and a team of his men go to investigate the claims. He doesn't expect to uncover such a dark secret that will change Mandalore's views on the Jedi forever. And he doesn't expect his own personal life would become just as changed when he lets Obi-Wan Kenobi into it.
