Chapter Text
"Come here, Adrian." A soft voice beckoned the five year old, who waddled towards them. In front of Adrian was a dark skinned boy standing, he seemed older, around 8 or 9 years old, with a messy black fro. Next to the boy stood a tall black man, around his late twenties. It seemed like they where related.
Adrian's brows knitted together as he peeked up at the boy that stared down at him. From Adrian's perspective the boy was quite tall, taller than most 8 year olds. Adrian found him and the man quite scary looking.
The boy then waved at the brunette boy and smiled, showing his two missing teeth. He seemed sweet.
"Hi!" He exclaimed happily, taking a step closer towards Adrian who jumped back in surprise. The boy raised an eyebrow, pouting a bit.
Then Adrian's mom, Lisbeth gently grabbed Adrian's little hand and tugged him forward with a smile, she pointed to the black man who was ruffling his son's hair.
"Adrian. This is Omar. He's Mommy's new boyfriend." She introduced Omar to
Adrian didn't look surprised or either amused. He was already used to seeing different type of men that his mom claimed to be her "boyfriend". But they always went to the park after a few months and never returned. Lisbeth would be crying and sulking till the next one came. Adrian thought this was just another man that would leave but he was wrong.
"And this is his son, Jordan. You'll be stepbrothers." Explained Lisbeth with an excited smile.
Adrian's eyes widened slightly at those words, he didn't like those words. Even as a toddler, Adrian never liked having siblings. He was always happy to be an only child but now. Now he had a stepbrother!? And older one!? He felt like his whole life had just been ruined.
Adrian burst out sobbing like a baby. He was distraught and in disbelief. He clung to his mom, but it was already settled. New dad, new brother. This was his life now.
Pretty dramatic for a 5 year old.
-- PRESENT --
That was 12 years ago.
Adrian was now 17 years old, attending High School. Still a brunette with a pretty and handsome face. He also played on the school's hockey team and was quite popular.
Jordan was 20, attending college. He still had his messy fro but it was way shorter. He got a few tattoos and was very tall for his age. He successfully graduated high school at the top of his class and as a gift he got a brand new car.
Adrian knew this and was insanely jealous, he always felt like his mom and stepfather always prioritized Jordan more than him which made him really despise his brother. But sometimes they got along, maybe too well sometimes.
The family was sitting at the table during breakfast, a few hours before everyone headed to school or work. Adrian sat across from Jordan as he stirred his cereal boredly. He didn't have an appetite, never did in the mornings. The rest of the family engaged in conversations while Adrian dreamt. He snapped out of it when, Jordan suddenly nudged his shoe, giving him that "Are you okay?" look.
Adrian just nodded and quickly looked down, a hot flush billowed into his cheeks. He forced himself to eat from his cereal to avoid suspicion from their parents. He glanced up at Omar.
"Dad, can you pick me up from practice today?"
"Sorry kiddo, I'm working longer today. Ask Jordi."
Adrian blinked surprised. Ask Jordan? No way! Adrian shook his head, he didn't want Jordan to pick him up. He was going to cause a stupid commotion at his school like every time he visits Adrian. Because for someone who didn't even go to their school, he was fucking popular. A gentle pout formed on his lips.
"It's fine." Adrian mumbled, stirring his cereal.
Jordan stared down at him and scoffed, rolling his eyes. This wasn't anything new, Adrian was always like this when it came to asking him for favors.
"Fuck you gonna do then? Walk?" Jordan blurts out, his voice more aggressive than supposed.
Adrian's jaw clenched, his grip tightening around his spoon. He glared up at Jordan.
"I'll use the bus." murmured the boy quietly.
Jordan raised an eyebrow but shrugged, knowing that it couldn't be helped. His brother was stubborn like that.
"Suit yourself, brat." Jordan reclaimed, leaning back against his chair.
Breakfast continued in silence. When everyone was done eating, they packed and went their separate ways. Omar drove Adrian to school, while Jordan drove to college.
-- AT ADRIAN'S SCHOOL --
Adrian was at his locker, gathering his books for biology class. His shoulders where slumped and he had a moody expression on his face. It somehow got worse when a girl walked up to him, looking all shy and giddy. She had a note in her hand, decorated with hearts and flowers.
Adrian's mood shifted slightly as he turned to the girl, crossing his arms across his chest while he observed her.
"May I help you?" Adrian offers skepticaly.
He knew this note wasn't for him. He never received notes from girls. So he had a good idea who this love note belonged too.
"Can you give this to Jordan? He's cute and I want to ask him out." The girl coaxes with a small smile, handing the pink letter to Adrian who looked at it in disgust and jealousy. He sighed and rolled his eyes, then stalked towards the girl a bit.
"Hey don't you think my brother is too old for you? He's 20 not some highs schooler. Plus he doesn't even go here." Adrian sneers at the girl while he glared down at her.
The girl didn't seem to care though and she rolled her eyes with annoyance.
"J-just give it to him!" Blurted out the girl who was now pushing Adrian away and walking out.
Adrian watched her leave with annoyance, he rolled his eyes and shoved the letter into his lockers, where over a million letters where hidden and for the same person. Jordan.
Adrian suddenly felt more frustrated than before, but it couldn't be helped anyway. He found his friends outside the school and walked up to them who greeted him excitedly. Though his mood was already ruined because of one stupid person.
-- AFTER SCHOOL (HOCKEY PRACTICE) --
Adrian played well at practice, trying to keep his thoughts away from Jordan and that girl. He did end up forgetting about it and continued playing.
After practice he and his teammates went to the locker room and changed to take a shower. Adrian's body was lean and quite slim. Even though he played hockey, you'd think he had muscles which he didn't unlike his brother. His waist was a little smaller than most teenagers his age but honestly that's what he liked about his body - and so did his teammates who were ogling him like hungry pigs.
"Hey quit staring." Adrian remarks with a chuckle as one of his teammates stared at him.
The guy laughed and shrugged, walking into step next to Adrian while his hand rested around the boy's waist.
"Sorry dude. You're just so damn sexy." The guy breathed out, practically ogling at Adrian who just rolled his eyes and tugged the other boys arms arms away.
After the showers, Adrian got dressed and wanted to leave. Before he could, their coach called out to him. They talked about Adrian's performance and future plans for hockey since he was really good at it. After about an hour, they wrapped it up and Adrian quickly made a stop to his locker grabbing the stupid note and stuffing them into his pockets. Finally done with the day. Or so he thought.
Outside was pouring rain. It was practically a rainstorm, heavy rain pouring down like there was no tomorrow. Adrian didn't had an umbrella - not even a proper jacket. He couldn't get home in this weather. The walk there was about 20 - 30 minutes from here and he'd be soaked. He would used the bus or train but unfortunately they don't drive in this kind of weather.
It seemed like the rain wouldn't stop anytime soon, and Adrian desperately wanted to get home. So with a heavy heart and mind, he picked up his phone and dialed Jordan's number.
After a few rings the calls went through and Jordan picked up.
"Hello?" Jordan's deep voice came though, not sounding necessarily annoyed just a bit confused.
"Hey Jordan. Where are you right now?" Adrian asks nervously, shifting his feet slightly on the wet concrete.
"At home. Why?" Jordan replied, his words quick and short.
"Can you come and.. pick.. pick me up? It's raining so bad and I'll get wet." Adrian then requested quietly, dreading the answer that will await him.
There was silence for a few seconds, then a deep heavy sigh that sounded regretful.
"Where you at?" Jordan didn't sound that annoyed, just a bit tired and honestly regretful.
"In front of my school."
"I'll be there in five."
The call ended abruptly and Adrian let out a soft exhale. As much as he disliked his brother he was always grateful for him. He kept his phone and waited patiently.
After five minutes a black Mercedes pulled up in front of Adrian. The brunette quickly walked over and opened the door to the passenger seat. As he settled inside and buckled himself up, he didn't dare look at Jordan. He felt his cheeks get warm.
The drive home was in silence nor Jordan or Adrian said a word. When they got to their house, Adrian suddenly turned around and gazed up at Jordan, he seemed vulnerable.
"Jordan. Thanks for driving me home and sorry for not asking you to pick me up this morning." Adrian muttered softly. He never apologized or said thank you. He also didn't know what to expect from his older stepbrother.
Jordan raised an eyebrow and a small smirk threatened to form on his lips. He gently grasped Adrian's jaw, staring down at him and then at Adrian's lips.
"Yeah it's whatever. Just don't do that shit next time." Jordan assures, his thumb brushing against Adrian's bottom lip.
Adrian didn't know what was happening in the moment to engrossed and fixated on the big hand on his jaw. When Jordan leaned closer, Adrian nodded quickly like a fucking dog.
"Y-yeah.. I won't." Adrian stutters nervously, obviously flustered as his cheeks were tinted a rosy color.
Jordan noticed it and he finally smirked. He held Adrian's gaze a little longer before he let go of Adrian's face, making the other boy whimper quietly, luckily Jordan didn't hear that.
They both walked inside the house quickly and into their respected bedrooms. Adrian's bedroom was all about sports and posters about popular players. Jordan's room was quite basic with a huge PC and some random decor. Their rooms where right he'd to eachother so they could practically hear each other through the walls.
Adrian dropped onto his bed, his face very red as he thought about what happened in the car. He kept touching his lip or jaw in disbelief. What the actual fuck was that about? The way Jordan touched him, it was almost as if..
"No! Cut it out, Adrian! He's your fucking stepbrother. There's no way he meant it like that." He muttered to himself, trying to convince him. But even as he said it, Adrian didn't believe it.
The way Jordan held his jaw and touched his lips felt way to intimate. Well.. it's not like Adrian didn't mind it but still! It was so wrong. They where fucking stepbrothers for God sake! Adrian suddenly remembered how he let out a whimper when Jordan pulled away and he felt embarrassed.
"Ugh how embarrassing.." He mumbled to himself, covering his face with his hands.
He changed into some sweatpants, not bothering to wear a shirt. He heard the front door open and close. Dad was probably back home from work, which meant dinner time.
