The pair stepped into a much larger chamber, and in the center sat a strange looking device, with tubes that glowed an ominous lime-green. The thing was at least two feet taller than Charlie, and wider than even a Flying Khallid. As they slowly, cautiously approached, Charlie scanned the machine with her tricorder. The same fungus they saw growing on the Khallids grew on the ground here in small patches, with the largest one directly under the strange device.
“No match to any known technology,” Charlie said, “but I think it’s safe to say this machine’s the source of the infection.”
