“When I first got here, they told me to never speak to you, under any circumstances.” Satoru said, and the sudden voice surprised Suguru. He continued watching the guard with widened eyes, noticing the slight shake of his hand as Satoru brought the cigarette to his lips once more.
“I didn’t question it, why would I even want to speak with a prisoner? That was all I thought of it for a long while, and I was okay with that.”
Suguru licked his lips and spoke before he could second guess himself.
“What changed?”
A dry chuckle escaped Satoru, he even smiled.
“Me, I guess. Or you, I’m not sure anymore.” Satoru answered, and finally met Suguru's gaze, which was painted more with confusion rather than the previous sorrow.
“I’ve watched you everyday for over two years, Suguru, and I began to see myself in you. We’re so different that we collide back into each other. It’s like, I have everything and you have nothing, but I don’t think there's a difference anymore.”
